Thousand Oaks - Full Aperture SolarLite Filter - 165mm Outer Cell

This Thousand Oaks SolarLite solar filter is designed to fit telescopes with an outer diameter of 159-163mm.   Self-adhesive felt is included for a secure fit.  

Thousand Oaks Optical SolarLite is a solar film that has the optical quality of the glass and the advantages of a polymer film. SolarLite film is exceptionally durable and safe to use and produces a yellow-orange view of the Sun.  Exceptionally clear and high contrast images make SolarLite a joy to view and image through.  

When choosing a SolarLite filter, note that filter sizes are given for the outer diameter of the filter cell.  You must choose a filter cell that is at least 1/16" or 1.6mm larger than your telescope outer diameter or the fit will be too tight.    To measure your telescope outer diameter, we recommend using a string or piece of yarn.  Wrap the string around the edge of the telescope where your filter will attach, if you're using an extendable dew shield for instance and will keep it in place, be sure to measure that, mark the string where the end meets, then lay the string flat for easy measuring with a standard ruler.
