The Meade 10" LX850-ACF Telescope has new improvements in both astrophotographic and visual use. Among some of these improvements include wider and flatter fields, virtually eliminating coma for sharper views and images which is a major plus for professional and amateur astrophotographers, the StarLock dual imager as a full time guider for guiding improvements using the two sensor camera, as well as the Ultra Precision Pointing and Assisted Drift Alignment. Other less significant features include improved gear drives with lower periodic error, a GPS receiver and a 144,000 object database in the AutoStar II GOTO system. The newly designed mount now includes machined stainless steel construction to improve conditions for viewing and now has a 90 pound payload capacity. This means that it can accommodate quite large optical tubes designed for hard core astrophotography. Slewing and pointing accuracy has also been improved to as good as one arcminute due to the roller bears and stainless steel RA shafts. The new designed optical tube assembly includes a Crayford focuser with a two speed 7:1 reduction control.
