ASA has developed a fantastic line of high quality Ritchey-Chretien Telescopes perfectly geared for extensive research or high level astro-imaging. The ASA 600mm f/8 is a fast high quality optical system that uses a hyperbolic primary mirror to form the image behind the cell and uses the secondary mirror for focusing by moving it along its axis via a computerized electrical drive system. These optical systems are similar to Cassegrains, but has improvements in the field correction even without a field-flattener lens being used.

Product Description

ASA 600mm f/8 Ritchey-Chretien Telescope - Open Truss Tube

ASA has developed a fantastic line of high quality Ritchey-Chretien Telescopes perfectly geared for extensive research or high level astro-imaging. The ASA 600mm f/8 is a fast high quality optical system that uses a hyperbolic primary mirror to form the image behind the cell and uses the secondary mirror for focusing by moving it along its axis via a computerized electrical drive system. These optical systems are similar to Cassegrains, but has improvements in the field correction even without a field-flattener lens being used.

ASA has constructed the 600mm f/8 Ritchey-Chretien Telescope with high-grade aluminum components and high strength carbon fiber materials, both key features for strength yet durability and have designed this around an open truss tube assembly. The ultra-low expansion crystalline AstroSitall is fabricated on both the primary and secondary mirrors and polished by LOMO Optics in Russia. ASA delivers the 600mm telescope with an optical test certificate and an interferogram, thereby verifying performance of the optics. All credit for the design goes to Philipp Keller, a German physicist and optical engineer.

With an aperture of 600mm, focal ratio of f/8, and focal length of 4800mm, astrophotographers using large format CCD sensors will need a corrector lens. In addition with a focal reducer or field flattener, the scope can be used with a CCD detector with a diagonal size of 150mm and still product excellent sharp pin-point images to the corners. Since the ASA Ritchey Chretien Optical Telescope systems are designed to perform at the diffraction limit, only the seeing conditions at the observing site when conducting image exposures should affect imaging results.
