Maksutov Newtonian telescopes have minimal aberration over a wide field of view, a fraction of the coma typically seen in traditional Newtonian telescopes or Schmidt Newtonian telescopes.  Contrast and clarity are excellent in a Mak-Newt telescope and with the wide field of view, they are especially well suited to comet hunting, asteriod observing and tracking or wide field astrophotography.
