White light solar filters are so called because they typically deliver full-color views of the Sun which is not yellow-orange as we perceive it, but white. In recent years, new polymer films have been produced that provide a false color view of the Sun in the yellow-orange color we associate with our nearest star. White light solar filters are a low cost solution to solar observing and imaging versus their H-Alpha filter counterparts. They are also lightweight and made to fit a very wide range of telescopes, binoculars and cameras. You can find solar filters for telescopes in either film fit to a frame, glass fit to a frame or as film sheets to make your own solar filters.
