Product Description

iOptron AZ Mount Pro with Tripod

iOptron has been a leader in mount design with a focus on innovation to create mounts that are well engineered, easy to use and always reasonably priced.  iOptron's AZ Mount Pro is no exception!  Described as their "level and go" Alt-Azimuth mount, the AZ Pro has a very simple set up routine that utilizes a built-in level indicator.  Setting up could not be easier: level the mount, and turn on the power.  That's it!  Once powered on the mount will go through it's own set up routine.  Using a built-in 32 channel GPS, positioning device and angle detectors the mount will calculate it's precise location, date and time and telescope orientation.  Once the mount has preparred itself, it will automatically slew to an easily identifiable bright object.   The computer will ask you to confirm that bright object is correct and centered, and then you're ready to view with a full computerized Go To mount.   Built-in WiFi receiver means you can control this mount with ASCOM, iOptron Commander and Sky Safari wireless mount controls.

Smart mount design includes a retractible counterweight shaft, zero backlash drive system, on board lithium ion battery for an incredible 10 hours of use on a single charge. The on board mount computer will recall your last position in the event of a power outage.  Serial port for direct firmware updates.  Included tripod has three point adjusters for easy levelling.  Sturdy steel legs offer a steady platform for your mount and minimize vibration.

The iOptron AZ Mount Pro is a great choice for education and outreach as the quick set up and simple mount operation makes for more observing time and less set up time.  Beginners will love the AZ Pro too.  This mount isn't just smart, it's also very portable weight an easily handled and carried 13 lbs. and stands just 10 inches tall from the base to the top of the mount head.  This mini mount is capable of carrying a surprising 33 pounds of primary load and an additonal 10 pounds of secondary weight with a properly balanced system.

Included with this is the mount head and Go To hand controller with a library of over 200,000 objects and 8 line LCD display.

Nice mount. Rechargeable battery and WiFi a real plus. You do need to be obsessive about leveling the scope. From there with a one star alignment your are spot on. Very quiet and smooth. I find it easier to level the tripod first and the mount levelers first. After that, installing the mount and leveling is usually a done deal. (Posted on 3/17/2017)
