If you want a tiny camera for both planetary and auto guiding. The QHY5L-II is the best choice for you. After the success of QHY5 guiding camera(2006-2012), QHYCCD released the new generation Guide/Planetary Camera QHY5L-II.

QHY5L-II is using the APTINA MT9M034 CMOS sensor. The full-color sensor has a high QE and it is very sensitive for incredible resolution. It has very low readout noise also. At low gain it is approximately 7e and middle gain it is 4e. At high gain the readout noise is as low as 2e. With such high QE and low readout noise you just need a very small guide scope . 30mm diameter is enough to find your guiding star.

QHY5L-II use 1.25inch style eyepiece shape design.It is very idea for the low weight guider setup. With the location ring it can get the confocal with the your eyepiece. It is very tight but still powerful. Improved thermal design can transfer the heat of CMOS sensor to the metal case quickly.

QHY5L-II has a high-speed data transfer performance. It can get 30FPS@1280*960 and 200FPS@320*240. This frame rate is quite good for planetary capture.

The QHY5L-II supply WDM drivers. It means you can use it as an ultra high-performance webcam for video charts or video live broadcast. You can show the real-time astronomy scene to your friends with this camera.

The QHY5L-II's high sensitivity and low noise is another highlight in QHY5-II series. With unbelievable 74% QE QHY5L-II's sensitivity is even exceed many CCD camera's. It is said the QHY5L-II's image quality get or beyond the ICX618 based cameras. The sensor's On-chip FPN(Fixed pattern Noise) calibration function solved the major problem of the CMOS technology. Planetary Imaging:

The frame rate of the QHY5L-II can get to 30FPS@1280*960 and 106FPS@640*480. For planetary imaging , the high rate can reduce the atmospheric agitation that affecting the image. Although QHY5L-II is a USB2.0 camera and the frame rate range is from 30 to 200 frames, this frame rate is still very suitable for planetary imaging because the exposure time is too short under high frame rate.

Lunar Imaging:

It is very easy to get high-resolution lunar imaging for QHY5L-II. By image stacking you will get a result with a lot details of lunar. The following image is the picture by QHY5L-II users. Some of the picture, is created by mosaic method. Please click the image to show the large picture.


Solar Narrow Banding Imaging:

The QHY5L-II can be used to connect the solar narrow banding telescope to do the solar Ha imaging. It can capture the atmospheric agitation and chromosphere details of the sun. You can capture the time-laps video to record the various of it. The following image is done by QHY5L-II-M user.


Deep Sky Object Imaging

Although QHY5L-II is not a cooled camera, it still has the capability to capture some bright DSO image. Especially the small planetary nebula and small galaxy. Normally it can be done by short exposure and large quantity stacking. You may need to enable the auto-dark frame subtract function of EZPlenatary to get real-time dark frame calibration to remove the thermal noise on long exposure time image. Please note you need to re-initialize the auto-dark frame calibration if you changed the gain or exposure time. The following picture is the DSO images by QHY5L-II users.




Electric Finder Scope

When you connect QHY5L-II with a 8mm F1.0 lens you can use it as an electric finder scope. It has very high sensitivity and it helps you to locate the direction of your telescope. 

All Sky Camera

After connecting with a 180-degree fisheye lens, QHY5L-II can be used to all-sky monitor, cloud monitor,meteor capture and UFO captures.
