The Celestron SkyProdigy 70 is a 70mm Refractor Telescope with a focal ratio of f/10, making it excellent for basic planetary observing as well as the moon. It has 100x the light gathering power of the human, so this is a perfect telescope for the beginner astronomer to get introduced to bright celestial objects. For a smaller sized telescope, the alignment methods are outstanding! While a beginner astronomer may be familiar with the brighter stars while in light polluted areas, going to a dark sky for the first time can be quite confusing with many more stars visible. After the user enters location, time, and date, the StarSense AutoAlignment method included in the SkyProdigy Series automatically uses a small camera to identify a three separate sectors of the sky against its database and can calculate which parts of the sky it has pointed at to properly align.
