MACRO MEETS TELEPHOTO
The Leica Apo-Macro-Summarit-S 120 mm f/2.5 (CS) is a true dual-purpose lens: firstly, it is a macro lens for close-up photography up to a reproduction ratio of 1:2, and secondly, it is a fast telephoto lens. It achieves exceptional imaging performance and optimum contrast rendition at all apertures and distances. This brings fascinating options for exploring the creative opportunities offered by selective sharpness. A version with a central shutter expands its photographic uses even more.
The optical design comprises nine elements in four groups. Three elements are made of glasses with anomalous partial dispersion, and two of these have extremely low dispersion to minimise chromatic aberrations. Thanks to front-group focusing and a floating element, consistently superior contrast rendition is assured even at close focusing distances. Simultaneously, sophisticated apochromatic correction ensures perfect resolution of even the finest details.
