Meade - 14" LX600-ACF (f/8) Advanced Coma-Free Telescope - No Tripod

The LX600-ACF 14"  and the rest of the telescope series address new improvements with optical quality, better imaging, and mount function. Catadioptric designs normally suffer from coma in which stars at the edge of the field of view don't appear pinpoint, therefore lowering image and viewing quality. With Meade's Advanced Coma Free (ACF) optical systems, this is no longer an issue therefore accommodating larger sensors and wide angle eyepieces without the effect. The Crayford style zero shift focuser also has two speeds for quick and easy adjustments. When properly aligned, the LX600-ACF 14" is powered with the AutoStar II GOTO system that has a database of over 145,000 celestial objects to slew to. For visual observers, the Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC) increases image brightness and contrast for better views.

The LX600 fork mount has 5.75" main gears that result in a pointing accuracy of at least 1 arcminute. The motors on the mount have a maximum slew speed of 8 degrees a second, making a halfway circumference of the sky in less than a minute! The slewing speeds can be adjusted from 0.1x to 1x sidereal and there are seven slew speeds available, 2x, 8x, 16x, 64x, 128x, and 1 and 2 degrees per second. The LX600 mount can be powered either with a 12V DC power supply (5 amps output) or through an external DC battery pack.
