iOptron - HAE16C Dual AZ/EQ Hybrid Strain Wave Gear Mount Head with Case
iOptron's Strain Wave Mounts, like the HAE16C, are designed to track celestial objects with great precision and accuracy, significantly reducing vibrations and mechanical noise. This feature is particularly beneficial for long-exposure astrophotography, where even minor vibrations can ruin detailed images. The HAE16C and similar mounts utilize "strain wave gearing," a form of harmonic drive that ensures high precision and minimal backlash. This technology enables smooth and exact movements, effectively reducing unwanted motion and vibrations.

Strain Wave Design
iOptron Strain Wave Mounts such as the HAE16C is a type of mount mechanical design that provides precise and accurate tracking of celestial objects while minimizing vibrations and mechanical noise, a major advantage especially for longer exposure astrophotography where even slight vibrations can destroy accurate frames. The HAE16C Mount and other Strain Wave based designs use a technology called "strain wave gearing," which is a type of harmonic drive that allows for high precision and low backlash. This allows the mount to move smoothly and accurately while minimizing any unwanted movement or vibration.
The iOptron Strain Wave Mount is useful for amateur astronomers who require high accuracy and precision for their observations. It can be controlled using a computer, allowing for automatic tracking of objects as they move across the sky.
Mount Weight of 5.7 lbs with a Payload of 18 lbs!
The new HAE16C Strain Wave Gear Mount is a lightweight and compact mount specifically tailored for users who need the benefits of a dual AZ/EQ design for both imaging and visual purposes that can withstand payload that far exceeds its own weight! The mount itself weights only 5.7 lbs, yet it can maintain mounting up to 18 lbs of total equipment! This means it is capable of mounting smaller sized optical tubes with a decent sized camera and other accessories such as guidescope without the annoying hassle and space constraints of counterweights and shafts. If using a counterweight (not included, sold separately), the payload is increased to 26.5 lbs.
CNC Metal Construction
The strain wave design nuts and bolts are implemented on the Right Ascension (RA) as well as Declination (DEC), thus both axis utilize the corresponding benefits of such design. The HAE16C is produced with all CNC metal, yielding significant durability and use.
Electronic Friction Brake
iOptron has installed the HAE16C with an electronic friction brake and to cease mount movement safely during a power interuption.
The mount can be ASCOM controlled by Windows or on Mac using a third party INDI driver. And of course, a Smartphone or Tablet with supported software can also be used.
2 Year Standard Warranty
The HAE16C Strain Wave Gear Mount is covered by iOptron's standard 2 year manufacturer warranty.
