1/1.3-Inch Sensor
- One Sensor. Multiple Ways to Capture the Universe.
- Deep-Sky Imaging
2.4μm Effective Pixels for Enhanced Low-Light Performance - With 2x2 pixel binning, Draco combines four adjacent 1.2μm native pixels into a single 2.4μm effective pixel, producing images at approximately 12MP.
- By collecting more signal per effective pixel, Draco improves the signal-to-noise ratio of faint subjects, revealing cleaner nebulae, galaxies, and delicate shadow detail.
- Sun, Moon & Planets
1.2MP Native Pixels for Maximum Detail - For solar, lunar, and planetary imaging, Draco switches to native 1x1 pixel readout and intelligently crops around the target to minimize unnecessary black space.
- The finer pixel sampling preserves intricate details—from lunar craters and sunspots to Saturn’s rings and Jupiter’s Great Red Spot.
300-Second Single-Frame Exposures. Remarkably Stable.
- Built-in guiding, physical field-rotation correction, and a precision tracking system work together to compensate for tracking errors and minimize field rotation.
- The result: tight, sharp stars throughout single-frame exposures of up to 300 seconds.
Built-In Guide Scope
Continuously tracks stellar movement and corrects tracking errors in real time, helping keep stars pinpoint sharp and minimizing trailing.
Physical Field-Rotation Correction
The CMOS sensor rotates in sync with the sky, physically compensating for field rotation and producing clean images without the complexity of precise polar alignment.
Precision Tracking System
High-precision transmission combined with fine microstepping control enables smooth, responsive tracking and accurate corrections.
The optical tube adjusts continuously to follow the sky while minimizing vibration and mechanical backlash—keeping stars sharp during extended exposures.
90mm of Optical Precision
- A 90mm aperture sets a high physical ceiling for image quality. Reaching that potential requires every beam of light to be controlled with precision.
- Draco employs an aberration-corrected optical system designed to minimize light deviation throughout the lens assembly.
- From the center of the frame to its edges, stars remain crisp and sharply defined.
- A new level of image quality—engineered around the laws of physics.
Intelligent Thermal Management
Draco takes a different approach to heat management, rethinking how energy moves through the imaging system and turning thermal challenges into useful performance advantages.
Cooled CMOS for Lower Noise
Integrated cooling and efficient heat dissipation help reduce thermal noise at its source, creating a cleaner foundation for image data.
Automatic Lens Dew Prevention
Sensor heat is intelligently redirected toward the lens, gently warming the optical surface to help prevent dew and maintain a clear view throughout the night.
From -20°C winter nights to 45°C summer heat, Draco is engineered to operate reliably while protecting image quality from capture to final result.
Large Aperture. Compact Form.
386mm Body | 90mm Aperture | 340mm Focal Length
Within its compact 386mm body, Draco incorporates a 90mm aperture and 340mm focal length through an efficiently folded optical path.
And it goes even further.
Fast F3.8 Optics
- With an exceptionally fast F3.8 aperture, Draco provides approximately 2.2× the light throughput of conventional F5.6 systems.
- More light reaches the sensor in less time.
- A faint nebula that might traditionally require around 6 hours of capture can potentially be recorded with comparable clarity in under 3 hours.
- Combined with ultra-long 300-second exposures, Draco gathers more light efficiently while maintaining remarkably clean imagery.
Compose Without Compromise
- Your equipment should adapt to your vision—not dictate it.
- With Draco, you can rotate your composition directly within the app while the CMOS sensor physically rotates to match.
- Shoot wide. Switch vertical. Explore unconventional angles.
- Frame the image exactly as you imagined it.
Astronomy Filter with SHO Upgrade
Draco’s astronomy filter preserves a broader range of useful starlight, making it particularly well suited to deep-sky subjects including galaxies and star clusters. This upgraded version also includes an additional built in SII + OIII filter, as well as a magnetic solar filter.
Stable Equatorial Support
- Draco’s all-metal base locks securely into its metal frame to create a rigid, unified structure designed for stability in Equatorial Mode.
- No additional equatorial mount is required.
- Simply follow the guidance in the app to adjust Draco to the correct angle and complete setup.
- The result is a more stable platform for long-exposure imaging and multi-frame stacking.
Lightweight, Stable Tripod
- Draco includes an aluminum-alloy tripod engineered to provide dependable support without unnecessary weight.
- Its aluminum platform, connectors, and legs create a strong, lightweight foundation, while TPR feet provide additional grip for improved stability on the ground.
- At approximately 480g, the tripod stands 175mm high when deployed, with a 470mm footprint diameter.
- When folded, it measures just 80 × 80 × 268mm.
- An 80mm top platform with a 3/8"-16 mounting thread provides a secure connection, while fixed-length legs open to a preset angle for fast, straightforward setup.
5.5kg Body
- Serious astronomical imaging doesn't have to stay in the backyard.
- At approximately 5.5kg, Draco is light enough to carry with one hand—giving you the freedom to take advanced imaging capabilities wherever the night sky calls.
Up to 5 Hours of Battery Life
Designed to keep pace with long nights of deep-sky imaging, Draco provides up to 5 hours of battery life for extended capture sessions.
Metal Frame. Engineered for Stability.
- The all-metal base integrates securely with Draco’s metal frame to create a rigid, dependable structure.
- Built for outdoor observation and imaging, it provides the stable foundation needed to keep Draco steady when it matters most.
