The Chroma H-alpha 3nm Narrowband filter is a geared mainly for astrophotography of deep sky emission sources of the H-alpha 656nm spectral line by optimizing the narrow bandpass of 3nm. By having a bandpass this narrow (as opposed to a 5nm or 8nm version), it boosts contrast of the H-alpha signal while removing far more light from beyond the specific H-alpha wavelength.
