Celestron Starsense Autoguider - 2025 Model
The Celestron StarSense Autoguider is a powerful, compact device designed to enhance your telescope experience by providing automatic and precise autoguiding. This all-in-one solution connects to your Celestron mount, making it easier to capture sharp, long-exposure images with minimal effort. Whether you're an experienced astrophotographer or just starting, the StarSense Autoguider ensures you spend more time observing and imaging, rather than dealing with alignment issues.
StarSense simplifies setup with its automatic alignment feature, readying your telescope in about three minutes at the press of a button. Using Celestron’s patented StarSense technology, it identifies star patterns overhead and matches them to its internal database, orienting the telescope without user input. For even greater precision, the StarSense Autoguider enhances your mount’s pointing accuracy with Precise GoTo, ensuring celestial objects are placed directly in the center of the field, even when using high-powered eyepieces or small imaging sensors.
Control your StarSense Autoguider your way—whether through the NexStar+ hand control, CPWI telescope control software on your PC, or the SkyPortal app powered by SkySafari™ (for WiFi-enabled mounts). Designed for seamless integration, it works effortlessly with your existing Celestron accessories and setup.
Compatible with most current Celestron computerized mounts, including both German equatorial and altazimuth models, the StarSense Autoguider offers versatile performance. Check the compatibility chart below for full details.
Assisted Polar Alignment & Autoguiding
Capturing stunning deep-sky images requires precision tracking, and the Celestron StarSense Autoguider simplifies the process. Previously, autoguiding setups were complex and costly, requiring separate cameras, guidescopes, and computers. StarSense Autoguider consolidates all of this into a compact, easy-to-use solution that ensures crisp, detailed images, with pinpoint background stars and no streaking. It allows even beginners to dive straight into astrophotography, delivering impressive results with minimal effort.
For even greater accuracy, the StarSense Autoguider also enhances the polar alignment process. Many users find it so effective that they no longer need to polar align their mounts for most casual observing. However, if optimal alignment is desired, the StarSense Autoguider streamlines the process, allowing you to complete a full polar alignment in under five minutes, using simple on-screen instructions from the hand control or CPWI software.
4 Element High Quality Optical Design
The StarSense Autoguider features a high-quality 4-element optical design created by renowned optical designer Mark Ackermann. This unique design provides sharper images than other mini-guidescopes, ensuring precise autoguiding performance. The optical tube is threaded to accept 2” astronomical filters, such as an IR-pass filter for twilight alignment or a neutral density filter for daytime focusing.
Equipped with an onboard computer and a highly sensitive Sony IMX462-DLL monochrome CMOS image sensor, the StarSense Autoguider offers exceptional guiding accuracy. You can even view a live image from the camera via your PC.
All StarSense Autoguider units now come with a custom dew shield that prevents dew formation on the objective lens in humid conditions and blocks stray light. Simply attach it to the front of the autoguider before imaging.
Advanced Use
Advanced users will appreciate the ability to fine-tune their autoguiding setup through CPWI’s advanced settings. Features like dithering can be enabled to slightly adjust the mount between camera sub-exposures, improving image processing performance.
CPWI also allows you to guide directly on a comet by selecting it from the software’s regularly updated database of over 100,000 celestial objects. Guiding on the comet itself provides more accurate results than using nearby stars.
With your StarSense Autoguider purchase, you gain access to all future firmware updates, unlocking new features and enhancements. Celestron engineers regularly release updates, ensuring you’ll always have the latest capabilities at your fingertips.
