In less than three minutes, the StarSense Autoguider can align the mount without any input needed from the end user. This is done through a star pattern recognizition system. The StarSense Autoguider is compatible with the following Celestron mounts:

While the above referenced mounts already excel at pointing accuracy, the addition of the StarSense Autoguider takes it a couple steps further which is necessary for longer exposure where even slight drift or misalignments can ruin exposure frames and making post processing much more difficult. The GoTo feature centers objects even when using high magnification eyepieces or cameras.

With the help of the hand controller or CPWI software guide, polar alignment also is quite easy and quick when using the autoguider.

The Celestron StarSense Autoguider is composed of a 4 element optical design which gives it an edge up in sharpess and resolution than the user would get otherwise. With the ability to accept 2" filters, an IR pass or Neutral Density filter can also be mounted on if needed.

To ensure the autoguider is getting clear frames to perform its alignment functions, it consists of a Sony IMX290-DLL 2.13mp sensor which can easily be viewed live on a computer if the user chooses. It also includes an integrated computer module to function properly.

Celestron will periodically release new firmware updates to ensure the StarSense Autoguider improves in functionality and stays compatible with the NexStar+ hand control, CPWI telescope software with wired connection or a WIFI connection with a compatible mount or SkyPortal module.
