Celestron has introduced a new level of user friendly telescopes with the development of the NexStar Evolution 6" SCT Telescope! No longer does the user need to use a hand controller to search and slew to objects (although it is still included if they choose to do so), the integrated WiFi now allows control via a smartphone or tablet using the mobile app for Android and iOS by simply connecting to the wireless network. The Planetarium Interface on the app also makes it easier to view a simulation of the night sky and which celestial objects are visible at a given point in time and a specific location.

External power supplies and batteries are a thing of the past! With the built in Lithium-ion battery, the Celestron NexStar Evolution 6" SCT Telescope can accomodate up to 10 hours of observing, more than enough to view dozens of planets and deep sky objects in a single observing session! The USB charge port also can charge other devices that need to be powered during the observing session such as a tablet.

A telescope that is complicated to setup isn't suitable for most intermediate or advance observers. Luckily, that isn't the case with the NexStar Evolution. With large ergonomic handles, setting up the optical tube, altaz mount and tripod is a breeze! The steel tripod can be adjusted so the telescope is properly level, thanks to the leg etchings. The Altitude and Azimuth manual clutches also allow precise manual slewing of the telescope when powered off. The two accessories trays can hold up to 7 eyepieces with one of the trays having an adjustable red LED illuminator.

A leading well known feature of many Celestron GoTo telescopes is the SkyAlign feature. Absolutely no knowledge of the location of stars or planets is needed, just simply the user's location and time. Once inputted, the user aligns to three bright objects in the sky (which can be stars, planets or the Moon) and the computer can calculate which is which and align accordingly.

For astrophotographers who desire more long exposure photography, the Evolution 6" SCT is a great place to start due to its worm gears and good quality motors. This is especially the case when adding the optional Pro HD Wedge (sold separately, NOT included).
