Celestron - NexStar 5SE 5" Schmidt-Cassegrain Computerized Telescope If you are an amateur astronomer interested in planetary observing as well as  deep sky observing, the Celestron NexStar 5SE Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope has the ability to do either.  The  focal length of 1250mm and focal ratio of f/10  increases magnification with most any given eyepiece.  The 5SE will resolve details in planets such as Jupiter's cloud bands and Saturn's rings.  And with a total weight of 17 pounds, this is a perfect portable telescope to take out to a dark observing site for a night or two of discovery. It uses a very simple and straightforward alignment feature called SkyAlign. All the user need do is align the Celestron NexStar 5SE Schmidt-Cassegrain to three bright stars (or planets) in the night sky and center them in the field of view. Knowing the names isn't necessary, the software does that automatically! The only information that must be known is time and location (using the SkySync GPS - NOT INCLUDED -  improves accuracy and speeds up the alignment process). Once properly aligned, the NexStar software contains an object database of 40,000 with 200 named objects. Among these objects include Messier, NGC, and IC deep sky objects and the planets. For visual astronomy, the StarBright XLT coatings provide excellent light reflectivity!
