The Celestron Dew Heater Ring is the perfect solution for preventing dew on your Celestron telescope. Designed to enhance your observing and imaging sessions throughout the year, this essential accessory permanently attaches to your 14" Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain (2006 or newer), EdgeHD, and 36cm RASA optical tubes, replacing the existing retaining ring for a seamless, dew-free experience. Installation is simple and straightforward—just follow the included manual for step-by-step instructions.

The Dew Heater Ring replaces the plastic retaining ring on your Schmidt corrector lens, providing efficient heating directly across the lens surface. Constructed from lightweight, durable aluminum, the ring’s rigid frame supports both the cable circuitry and the telescope’s Schmidt corrector lens. Unlike other heating bands or strips, which inefficiently heat the lens cell to warm the glass, the Celestron Dew Heater Ring directly heats the corrector glass, ensuring the most efficient transfer of heat and preventing dew formation.

Simply plug the ring into an external 12V DC power source for consistent, continuous heat, even under heavy dew conditions. The Dew Heater Ring features two storage clips to keep the power and thermistor jacks secure when not in use, all while accommodating the telescope's dust cover. Additionally, the ring includes a cable management clip that attaches to the telescope’s front cell, helping to keep the power and thermistor jacks organized and reducing strain on the cable connection.

For optimal dew prevention and power efficiency, Celestron strongly recommends pairing the Dew Heater Ring with a Smart DewHeater Controller (sold separately). The controller uses the built-in thermistor in the Dew Heater Ring, along with its internal environmental sensor, to provide the exact amount of heat required to prevent dew formation. This is based on the ambient temperature, humidity, and the temperature of the Schmidt corrector lens. This intelligent control significantly reduces the power draw, thereby extending battery life.

The Dew Heater Ring also includes an extension cable that allows for easy connection to the controller's heater output port or to a third-party controller's output port. Please note: the ring’s integrated thermistor is only compatible with Celestron Smart DewHeater Controllers.

For further dew prevention, consider adding a dew shield to your setup. While optional, a dew shield can reduce the amount of power required by the Dew Heater Ring to keep your optics clear, helping to maximize efficiency.
