The GM1000HPS mount from 10 Micron is a world class mount designed for the astrophotographer using high end demanding equipment with up to 55 pounds (not including counterweights) payload, thus it is able to accomodate high end astrographers while offering significant precision with its two servo brushless motors.

A critical factor for long exposure astroimaging is pointing accuracy and superior tracking performance. All of this is properly addressed with the GM1000HPS mount with its robust motors and mechanical design. Pointing accuracy is accurate within 20 arcseconds RMS using a unique model blueprint of 100 star coordinates which remedies errors normally caused with regular polar alignment. The data can be saved and recovered for different observing sessions.

Designed for High End Astrophotography

The GM1000HPS mount from 10 Micron is a world class mount designed for the astrophotographer using high end demanding equipment with up to 55 pounds (not including counterweights) payload, thus it is able to accomodate high end astrographers while offering significant precision with its two servo brushless motors. When considering that the timing belt reduction has zero backlash, the wormwheels on each axes are composed of bronze (B14) with diameters of 125mm and 250mm teeth, the worms themselves are made of alloy steel with 20mm diameters, and the axes are composed of 30mm diameter allow steel, it is no secret serious astrophotographers will find great use of this mount for its incredible accuracy for long exposures.

Controlling the Mount

10 Micron has designed the GM1000HPS Equatorial Mount in an efficient manner by using an removable independent control box that consists of the electronics. As a result this helps reduce clutter with cabling etc. 

There are multiple ways the imager can control the mount. The included handpad/keypad can be connected via the port on the control box. This is an easy way to control the mounts with minimal setup time and features maximum readability even in dark sky conditions where artifical light can ruin eye adaption to the dark and perhaps exposures. It also features ergonomic keys, so gloves can be used and a red backlight. Last but not least, a heater keeps the display warm even freezing conditions.

The GM1000HPS can also be directly connected to a PC with the RS-232 port or Ethernet ports via the ASCOM driver. The RS-232 can also control the dome as well, a useful benefit for user's inside a dome in a remote location while observing.

Deep Sky Database All the Way Down to 16th Magnitude

Since professional astrophotography often requires imaging objects that are faint and overlooked in more basic astroimaging, the object database included goes all the way down to the 16th magnitude. This is more than sufficient to view and track faint nebulae and galaxies that are of particular interest that wouldn't otherwise be visible in great detail with more basic equipment. The observer can also load orbital elements of solar system objects and satellites to be tracked via the hand pad.

A common obstacle with equatorial mounts is the ability to track past the meridian. Luckily this is a non issue with the GM1000 HPS which can track up to 30° past the meridian both ways, allowing any object to be tracked for four hours.

Since the mount comes equopped with absolute encoders on both axis, tracking error is usually below 1 arcsecond, thus removing much need for autoguiding. However, the mount still comes equipped with an ST-4 and serial/Ethernet port to guide with if the user chooses to do so at a configurable 0.1x to 1x rate. The guide rate can be automatically adjusted accordingly for declination of the object to avoid the process of recalibration.

High End Mount - Yet Still Easily Transportable

The 10 Micron GM1000HPS is very transportable, nothwithstanding being designed for higher end equipment. The full weight of the mount head (exluding the shaft) is only 43 lbs. While NOT INCLUDED, it is highly suggested to purchase a 10 Micron case for the mount head.
