The TAKAHASHI  FSQ-85ED,  "Baby Q"  Astrograph Set  with  TAKAHASHI  EM-11 Temma 2 Mount,   With the FSQ-85ED, TAKAHASHI has created a telescope that has been designed for the express purpose of digital astro-imaging.   It features the finest optical elements available today and produces amazing flat field and color-free images. Compared to other dedicated astrophotography telescopes, the FSQ-85ED, or “Baby Q", is spectacular. It has a modified Petzval 4-element double ED flat-field design optical system like its larger cousin, the FSQ-106ED but in a smaller, more portable package. Baby Q’s image circle of 60° will allow medium format CCD or DSLR cameras to produce high quality images of deep sky objects. A new heavy-duty, 72mm focuser with fine focus built-in can stay steady even when using larger CCD cameras. Its smooth motion and oversized knobs will make it easy to achieve a sharp focus every time, even at very high powers. A built-in camera rotator [camera angle adjuster] allows the camera to be rotated 360 degrees without loss of critical focus.

The "Baby Q" represents the best of the best. This superb Takahashi does everything well, with correction for field curvature, spherical aberration, coma and more.  The  FSQ 85 EDX is a first class Astrograph but serves equally well as a premium visual scope.  It has backfocus of more then 200 mm, readily accepting multiple diagonals, binoviewers, or other visual devices.  Color correction from the near UV to the near IR insures tight stellar images across the entire color range.

The "Baby Q" lives up to its name with its pint-sized package. At less than 9 pounds, and only 12.68 inches long when fully collapsed, a small mount like the included EM-11 Temma 2 will support it with capacity (25lbs) to spare. This telescope will be right at home in an overhead bin, or even under a seat on an airplane making the FSQ-85ED the perfect "go anywhere" imaging/visual astrograph.
