Focal Reducers

This combination focal reducer and field corrector lens accessory works with all Celestron 5\", 8\", 9 1/4\", 11\" and 14\" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. This clever accessory makes it possible to have a dual focal ratio instrument, without sacrificing image quality. The Reducer/Corrector is f/6.3 for C5, C8, C9.25 and C11 telescopes and f/7 for the C14 telescope.

The Lepus 0.62X is a new 4-element telecompressor available from Optec that has been specifically designed to work with newer Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes such as the Meade ACF or the Celestron EdgeHD optical tube assemblies.

Some of the most picturesque celestial objects are too large to fit in the field of view of an imaging refractor and camera. What’s more, most objects in deep space are very faint and therefore challenging to image without taking very long exposures, increasing the potential for error. Our new Orion 0.8x Focal Reducer for Refractors addresses these obstacles by increasing your refractor telescope’s field of view while reducing the effective focal length by a factor of 0.8x, thereby providing a shorter, more optically “fast” focal ratio to increase astrophotography efficiency.
