Nikon has made it easier than ever to use a Nikon Spotting Scope with a COOLPIX digital camera. Nikon Wide Digiscoping DS Fieldscope 16x / 24x / 30x Eyepieces offer easy attachment to COOLPIX digital camera, and allow for reduced vignetting with small adjustments. The Wide Digiscoping Fieldscope Nikon Eyepieces for 50mm, 60mm, 82 Fieldscopes come supplied with a rubber eyecup for eye observation.
The DS Series will work with your digital camera with less chance of vignetting (darkening of the image's edges) than is the case with the normal fixed-magnification eyepieces, but also include a normal eyecup for traditional observing.
As with all digiscoping efforts, you'll need a sturdy tripod with a video-type pan/tilt head as well as a cable release or remote control for your camera if possible.
