The StarGuy Alt Az Pro is a step up from the Porta II Mount. It features the well designed Porta II head atop the HAL130SXG heavy duty tripod for a rigid platform with great stability. The “World-Standard” dovetail attachment system on the StarGuy Alt Az was developed by Vixen.

For so many years the beginning astronomer was forced to buy a mount that was unstable and almost useless when viewing at high power. More often than not, the frustration of using an unstable mount resulted in the telescope only being used for one night and being left in a closet to collect dust. The Porta mount changed all that. It is one of Vixen's proudest designs.

The GPD2 equatorial mount is the stronger and heftier of the GP mounts. With its solid steel R. A. and Declination axes and brass worm gears, this mount will hold up to years of heavy use.

The GP2 mount's aluminum die-cast body is strong and light with accurate tracking accomplished by dual 144-tooth aluminum worm wheels and a brass R.A. worm gear machined to better than 0.002-mm tolerance.

Of special note is the factory-aligned, highly accurate polar axis finder. The polar axis scope is actually aligned twice -- once when the scope is assembled, and again when it is installed in the mount. As an integral part of the mount, it retains its accuracy and provides a quick, and reliable method of aligning the Kenko mount.
