Lunt 8mm Solar Eyepiece

Lunt is proud to introduce our new family of Eyepieces that are optimized at the 656nm wavelength.

 

Features:

  • This Solar Eyepiece from Lunt is presented in a 1.25" barrel format in an 8mm focal length.
  • Anti-reflective coatings reduce ghosting and glow and aid in providing darker background.
  • Lunt Solar Eyepieces are coated with the same 0.1% anti-reflective coatings as on their h-alpha etalons 
  • These eyepieces are not designed to view the Sun without a proper solar filter!!!


This 8mm solar eyepiece by Lunt isn't not only stylized in the Lunt Red and Black color scheme, the coatings are also optimized at 656nm in order reduce back reflections when used for Hydrogen-alpha observing.


The Lunt Eyepieces have the very same AR coatings that we currently incorporate into our Etalons. At <0.1% AR, they utilize the highest specification for Anti-reflective coatings available in the industry.

The Lunt Solar Eyepiece series are coated with the same 0.1% anti-reflective coatings as on their h-alpha etalons. The anti-reflective coatings reduce ghosting and glow and aid in providing darker background. They also excel at lunar and planetary viewing - as well as terrestrial objects. 


The Lunt Eyepiece optical design was chosen in order to provide an optimum range of eye relief and FOV.

Given the optimization in the red end of the spectrum, Lunt eyepieces will also work very well for night time observing.
