This is a highly recommended product for the discontinued Televue 90 degree 2" Everbrite Diagonal. The specifications between the two items are quite similar.
The TeleVue is definately high on the list when rating optics and the quality of the results they provide. The TeleVue Everbrite Star Diagonal was originally a single block of aluminum, but now has been carved into a beautiful optic designed to meet your astronomical needs. Because a block of aluminum is all that was needed to make this remarkable optic, there is absolutely no sheet metal or tubes screwed in plastic, so the chances of breaking because of a movement mistake are almost slim to none. It is compatible with almost all 1.25" and 2" focusers and/or visual backs because it is designed with a permanent alignment that cannot be changed.
If what was described above is enough to make you as a stargazer highly impressed, you're in for an enormous surprise! The surprise is the pyrex mirrors that combine with the dielectric mirror to provide 99% of reflectiveity. Why is this so special however? Since pyrex is low expansion material, the chances of it warping opr becoming distorted due to external conditions are quite slim. Having said that, there must be a reason why they built the Hale telescope at Palomar with pyrex because it is simply superior! Even better, when pyrex mirrors combine with the power and functions of refractors, lunar and planetary objects become very cutting edge.

Whiter and brighter images. Simply put, that is the benefit the Everbrite mirror coating. This exotic, dielectric, nonmetallic coating is 99% reflective across the full visual spectrum, resulting in the "whitest," most natural image available. The coating is painstakingly applied to Pyrex with a surface accuracy of a 1/10 wave flatness.
To ensure performance, every mirror is optically inspected under conditions far more critical than a diagonal mirror is ever used in typical telescopes. In this way, Tele Vue can guaranty that the Everbrite will permit your telescope to operate at its fullest potential.
The diagonal bodies of each are machined from solid blocks of aluminum. Permanent alignment is assured. The one piece body construction also means heavy accessories can't force the diagonal body to "unscrew" from the barrel as with other brands. Features brass clamp rings, anti-reflection threads and 48mm filter threads.
90° Diagonals like the this Televue model provides upright-but-laterally reversed images, which in turn gives a brighter image as opposed to if the image was correctly oriented. Why is this so beneficial however? The answer comes down to aperture size. Even with small apertures, the brass fittings, anti-reflective compounds, and NebuStar and OIII matched threads working together drive to bring a fabulous image.
But quality doesn't stop there. When disecting what's in the diagnonal, you will find there are absolutely NO screws. Impossible right! Well, now being shipped with a non-marring soft brass compression ring, all the trouble with screws from the scratches they cause to losing them in pitch darkness is history! As always, TeleVue considers every angle their equipment is used at and a special channel is cut right into the barrel to act as a safety stop. This will keep the diagonal, and your eyepiece from falling should it accidentally loosen from the focuser.
