CELESTRON - CGEM Computerized Mount with Tripod

The Celestron CGEM Mount is excellent for intermediate to mid-advanced astrophotography. While it doesn’t have a mighty payload like the CGE Pro, the CGEM Computerized Mount has a 40 Ib payload which can accommodate up to Celestron’s 11” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube assemblies. Like the CGEM DX and CGE Pro Equatorial Mounts, the maximum slewing rate is 5° per second which is great, especially for visual observers who want to view as many objects as possible in a specific night. There are five different alignment procedures, but the most famous and recommended is the All-Star alignment. After slewing to a star, the user can adjust the altitude and azimuth knobs to precisely align the telescope to the north celestial pole, thereby polar aligning the mount. Once aligned properly, the observer has a 40,000 object database to slew to from the NexStar Hand Controller. 200 of these objects have information on them. It is highly suggested that the optional GPS SkySync Accessory be used.

Motor drives and certain software creates a very efficient motor system. This includes periodic error correction and slow slewing rates by using encoders in drive motors. There is a RJ-12 modular jack and ST-4 guide port and a RS-232 connection on the hand controller to control the mount from the PC.

The Celestron CGEM Mount is the standard mount used in the 800, 925, and 1100 HD telescopes.
