The Celestron CGEM 925 Schmidt-Cassegrain Computerized Telescope (SCT) is an 9.25" optical tube assembly featuring Celestron's innovative StarBright XLT coatings to improve light reflectivity. For astrophotographers and visual astronomers, the 9.25" Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube is a step up for the average astronomy enthusiast. Since Schmidt-Cassegrain are catadioptric designs, meaning they feature both mirrors as well as correcting lenses (also called correcting plates), which means they virtually eliminate aberration  as well as providing a long focal length scope in portable dimensions. This means that high magnification can be achieved with these scopes. The normal focal ratio of f/10 can be further reduced to f/6.3 when using the optional corrector/reducer from Celestron (NOT included). For astro-imagers specifically interested in deep sky observation, this accessory would definitely be an advantage because reducing the focal ratio of a telescope allows for a wider field of view as well as reducing exposure time.

Celestron's CGEM Equatorial Mount is has observing features built with both the visual astronomer and astrophotographer in mind. Being vibration free and equipped with a payload capacity of up to 40 Ibs, this mount is capable of holding Celestron's midsized optical tube assemblies. The All-Star alignment feature helps to observer precisely align their mount to the north celestial pole so they can begin accurate tracking of celestial objects. The alignment procedure consists of a standard two star alignment
