These beautiful Baltic birch veneer aircraft plywood altitude bearings from Astrosystems slide smoothly on the Ebony Star Formica Surface. Lets the scope glide up and down on the cradle. The larger the altitude bearing, the smoother and more precise motion conrol one has. These large bearings also distibute wieght evenly throughout the cradle and provide stability for the scope as a whole.



Astrosystems Altitude Bearings are shipped unfinished as to provide room for customization and matching to one's telescope.

Astrosystems altitude bearings are available in 7 sizes and feature premium Baltic Birch plywood. Each bearing is supplied with your choice of smooth or textured (Ebony Star) laminate ready to apply and each is finish routed with a 1/8 inch radius edge, except the laminate edge. The classic two spoke design makes these strong, light and stiff when supporting the vertical load of the telescope. This results in crisp, smooth motion. For optimum stability and best movement we recommend using a bearing diameter approximately 4-6 inches over the primary mirror diameter. Unfinished and unsanded.
