The Nikon 6928 Fieldscope III 60 millimeter Straight ED is a durable, waterproof, and fogproof all-metal scope. The scope's tube is O-ring sealed and put through an advanced vacuum process that removes virtually all air and water molecules. This process ensures that the Nikon 6928 will perform under the most stringent of field conditions without suffering any effects of fogging or condensation. The high-grade optics feature multi-coating technology, giving you super clarity and high resolution, and the sliding sunshade ensures you'll get a clear view, even in the brightest situations.
The Nikon 6928 features a 20x magnification and a large, 60 millimeter objective lens diameter, giving the scope an exit pupil size of three millimeters. A 20x magnification makes an image appear twenty times larger than with the eye alone. In other words, objects at 100 yards appear to be only five yards away through a 20x scope. Given the exit pupil size, this spotting scope works best in full light, but make sure you get an eyepiece because the 6928 is a body only model.
About Exit Pupil Size The size of the exit pupil for a spotting scope is determined by dividing the objective lens diameter by the magnification rating. The human eye pupil diameter ranges from 2-7 millimeters, depending on the amount of light. For proper light gathering potential, the diameter of the scope's exit pupil must be equal to or greater than the diameter of your eye pupil at the light level you will be using the scope. If you're working in low light, your exit pupil size will be of greater importance. With a three millimeter exit pupil, the Nikon 6928 Fieldscope III 60mm Straight ED is an excellent choice for spotting at long distance and in full light.
