Vixen GP2 Equatorial Mount with Star Book-S and HAL-130 Tripod
The GP2 mount's aluminum die-cast body is strong and light with accurate tracking accomplished by dual 144-tooth aluminum worm wheels and a brass R.A. worm gear machined to better than 0.002-mm tolerance. This mount comes fully equipped: metal setting circles, bubble-level, fine adjustment knobs for altitude/azimuth, and 3.7-kg (8-lb) counterweight are standard. Motors on each axis make this system complete for visual observation and tracked astro photography. Smooth Accurate Tracking with Vixen's GP2 Equatorial Mount makes it a platform for serious astronomers. This easy to use mount functions well for both the visual observer and the astrophotographer. The GP2 is an excellent choice for observers who want a simple, yet sturdy mount, with the ability to grow.
This model of the latest Vixen GP (Great Polaris) mount includes the new Starbook S, a GoTo controller with built-in star chart that shows you exactly where the telescope is pointing and only displays “what’s up” right now. The included (and upgradeable) software contains a 22,000+ object database, giving the user an endless variety of objects to view. Choose from a variety of drop-down menus, including Stars, Planets, Messier, NGC and other famous objects. Each sub-menu only lists the objects that are available to be viewed at that time. This eliminates the frustration of other GOTO systems that don’t tell you the object is below the horizon until after you have selected it. With the Vixen Starbook S you will spend more time viewing and less time searching.
The package includes advanced encoded motors for accurate tracking, and an auto-guider port and PEC (periodic error correction) are both standard features. All of this makes the Vixen GP2 with Starbook S the most affordable, quality astro-photographer’s mount available. Add to that the heavy-duty aluminum HAL-130 tripod and you're ready to go!
