Details

The Celestron AstroMaster 70EQ Refractor is a 70mm optical tube with an f/13 focal ratio, making it excellent for small field of view basic planetary observing. Beginner astronomers will be thrilled at the detail they'll see with a basic scope like this one. Setting up is a no brainer! Absolutely no tools are required; simply mount the optical tube through the dovetail attachment on the mount and you're set! The rings of Saturn, Jupiter cloud bands, and details on the moon will all be observable. WITH A PROPER SOLAR FILTER, this telescope is even capable of observing details on the sun! The refractor is mounted on a CG-2 German Equatorial Mount equipped with setting circles to aid in pointing the telescope to a certain coordinate of the night sky. To accurately center a star in the field of view, a permanent StarPointer is mounted. Included are two eyepiece of 20mm and 10mm focal lengths, resulting in magnifications of 45x and 90x. In addition, the SkyX First Light Edition astronomy software is included to assist the astronomer in basic understanding of the night sky. There is a 10,000 object database of information and skymaps can be printed from the computer!

Product Series

If you’re looking for a dual-purpose telescope appropriate for both terrestrial and celestial viewing, then the AstroMaster Series is for you. Each AstroMaster model is capable of giving correct views of land and sky. The AstroMaster Series produce bright, clear images of the Moon and planets. It is easy to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with every one of these fine instruments. For views of the brighter deep space objects like galaxies and nebulae, we recommend the larger aperture and light gathering ability of the Newtonian reflectors.
