Celestron CGEM 1100 Schmidt-Cassegrain Computerized Telescope


As an 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube, the CGEM 1100 includes StarBright XLT coatings that help improve light reflectivity as well as built in optics for astrophotography purposes. Since this is a catadioptric design and therefore uses both corrector plates and mirrors. This means they escape many of the chromatic aberration found in traditional refractors, but also have a very slow focal ratio by nature. However, using the optional corrector/reducer from Celestron (NOT included), the focal ratio can be reduced to f/6.3, making it more suitable for faster imaging.

Celestron's CGEM Equatorial Mount is has observing features built with both the visual astronomer and astrophotographer in mind. Being vibration free and equipped with a payload capacity of up to 40 Ibs, this mount is capable of holding Celestron's midsized optical tube assemblies. The All-Star alignment feature helps to observer precisely align their mount to the north celestial pole so they can begin accurate tracking of celestial objects. The alignment procedure consists of a standard two star alignment.
