Just flip the switch, and the Integrated Sensor Module in combination with the ECLIPS™(Electronically Controlled Locate Identify Position System) CCD imager delivers all the information necessary to automatically align your LS for fast, accurate, hassle-free viewing. ACF™ (ADVANCED COMA-FREE™) OPTICS — SHARP, CLEAR, BRLLIANT
Meade’s proprietary, Advanced Coma-Free optics provide distortion-free clarity and sharp-as-a-tack resolution. Building from a classic RC (Ritchey-Chrétien) design, Meade has created a new system design with the same coma-free pinpoint star images and flatter field that also reduces the astigmatism and eliminates diffractions spikes found in classical RCs. ACF (Advanced Coma-Free) is an altered version of Meade's previous Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes that replaces the traditional spherical SC secondary mirror with a hyperbolic secondary mirror. In the new design the full aperture corrector is slightly altered in shape and combined with a spherical primary mirror. Nearly every observatory reflector in the world uses a similar aplanatic (coma-free) optical system including NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. Thanks to Meade's ACF design, coma - the dirtiest word in Astronomy, is virtually eliminated! With Meade Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC™). increasing total light transmission and image brightness by nearly 20% over Meade's standard coatings objects such as stars, galaxies and nebulae will appear significantly brighter.
ECLIPS BUILT-IN IMAGING
The built-in Electronically Controlled Locate Identify Position System (ECLIPS) CCD imaging module lets you capture images of your favorite celestial objects.
The CCD camera is mounted under the optical tube. Its wide-angle short focal length lens is aimed parallel to the optical tube and records wide angle images of the sky centered on the object at which the scope is aimed. It takes full color 8° wide 640 x 480 panoramas through its own wide angle lens and can display them in real-time (via a user supplied) monitor or TV set via the video output jack or save them to an SD card, with no external computer needed. You can even connect and control another DSI CCD camera and view images on an external monitor or save the images to the SD card or an external computer. Either way, you can start astro-imaging on your first night out!
AUTOSTAR III® - TOTAL CONTROL
The easy-to-use hand-held controller (left) lets you select from a huge object database, with over 100,000 celestial objects. Just select an object and push the “GoTo” button and the telescope will automatically put your object in the eyepiece. The AutoStar III also gives you complete control of the Astronomer Inside multimedia features only available from Meade.
MEADE’S ASTRONOMER INSIDE
Take a multi-media guided tour of the universe, or select your favorite object and the LS’ Astronomer Inside gives you fun and informative audio descriptions of over 500 objects while you view them in the eyepiece — or experience the whole dazzling multi-media presentation on an (optional - right) attached video monitor (#07700) — complete with audio, video, still images and text.

Planets, galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, double and variable stars, asteroids, comets, earth satellites, the International Space Station and more, are all included in the 30,000 plus database. AutoStar is updateable with downloads from our web site.
A rigid, die-cast aluminum mount solidly supports the optical tube in all sky orientations. Precision 4.875" diameter worm gears in both axes provides smooth Sidereal tracking of objects in the night sky.
