Our popular computers allow you to easily guide to hundreds, thousands or even millions of objects in
the database without knowing where they are and without using a star chart. You don′t even need
to level or polar align your scope. You can spend more time observing and less time hunting for
objects. These computers are sometimes called digital setting circles because the early versions only
displayed right ascension and declination, thus replacing the telescopes mechanical setting circles.
The Next Generation Computers (or MAX computers as they are sometimes called) are not
″Go-To″ computers in that they do not move the telescope for you. 

SGT-MAX

magine every movement of your telescope being represented against a realistic star field on the screen
of your personal computer! Simply type the name or catalog number of any object you wish to see, and
the SGT-MAX not only guides you to it, it even shows your progress against the stars! The real-time
link to your telescope makes finding any of thousands, or even millions of objects, a breeze. Combining
it with a compatible Go-To telescope (such as the Meade LX200) and CCD imaging software will give you a
fully automated imaging system.

It should be noted that without a compatible Go-To telescope, the SGT system will guide you in a manner
similar to the NGC system in which you must manually move the telescope.

The Software Guided Telescope is a combination of two parts, Hardware and Software.  You will need both
parts for a functioning system. We sell TheSky software but many others will work with our hardware.

GP2 Mounts

The GP2 equatorial mount comes standard with tripod and counterweight. It is easy to use and functions well for both the visual observer and astrophotography. The declination and right-ascension functions with 144-tooth aluminum worm gears allowing accurate tracking. Motion is controlled by included control knobs for accurate slewing. The polar altitude adjustment varies from 0° to 62° in altitude. Optional single axis or dual axis motors and controllers are available as is a polar alignment telescope and setting circles.

SkyPod Mounts

The Skypod is a unique portable alt-azimuth computer controlled ”Go To” mount that evolved from the very successful Vixen Sphinx mount. (Image shows Skypod with optional tabletop stand) The Skypod incorporates a compact computer controlled Alt-Az system that automatically slews the telescope from one object to another. The 27,000 plus object data base provides an endless variety of object to view and is upgradeable. This new and portable GoTo travel mount uses the modified Starbook S hand controller that offers the same practical user concept of the Sphinx controller. A display will show you a map of the sky so that you always know where you are. The controller is integrated into the mount. You can take it off for remote control, but you can always put it back for save storage and transport. This means that for transport you can avoid all the separate small parts that are otherwise easily lost.

StarBook GOTO System

The latest option for the GP2 and GPD2 mounts is the new STARBOOK S which incorporates Vixen’s legendary
GOTO controller with BUILT IN STAR CHART that shows you exactly where the telescope is pointing and
displays “what’s up” right now.
