A serious, High performance telescope in a compact size, the 5’ aperture of the C5-S allows it to
easily outperform smaller aperture telescopes. Offer ing 4-1/2 timer more light gathering ability
then a 60mm telescope and 2-1/2 times more than 80mm scope, Celestron’s C5-S is the clear choce
when a powerful instrument delivering brilliant, crisp views is what you require. The reputation
for excellence of this optical system is such that it was chosen by NASA for many space shuttle
missions, the C5-S can reveal to you star clusters, nebulas, planets, and galaxies in surprising
detail. On or off the sturdy CG-5 Equatorial mount, the C5-S makes a wonderful spotting scope and
powerful telephoto lens.
For a completely automated GoTo system, the C5-SGT (#11072) comes mounted on the CG-5GT
computerized EQ mount and allows access to features like automatic star alignment capability and
GoTo slewing to over 40,000 objects. Equipped with high-speed motors and hand control, the C5-SGT
allows you to romotely slew your telescope to desired objects quickly and accurately. No matter at
what level you are starting out, the Advanced GT series will invold all the wonders of the
universe for you and your friends.

* Hand-figured optics: Hand figuring the optical system is a complex optical procedure done
on a commercial basis only by Celestron. Four separate optical tests are made on every set of 8”
optics, using a double-pass laser autocollimator - an Airy disc inspection, a test for spherical
aberration by examining the diffraction images on both sides of focus, a Ronchi grating test, and
a knife edge test. A skilled optician evaluates these tests, then fabricates a precision pitch lap
and delicately hand polishes the secondary mirror to compensate for any small residual zonal
defects and smooth the optical figure. Done a few strokes at a time, and testing constantly to
evaluate their effect, this final hand-figuring can take hours. But, when it is finished, the
optical performance makes every tedious hour of hand-crafting well worth the effort.
* Finderscope: 6 x 30mm straight-through achromatic design, with a wide 7 degree field of
view. Focuses by loosening the trim ring behind the objective lens cell, screwing the lens cell
in or out to focus, and tightening the trim ring to lock in the correct focus.
* Visual back: Removable 1.25” visual back holds visual accessories such as star diagonal,
tele-extender, etc.
* Star diagonal: 1.25” prism type.
* Eyepiece: 1.25” 25mm E-LUX Kellner (81x). The eyepiece field of view is 0.59 degrees,
almost 20% larger than the full moon.

CG-5 Computerized — GoTo convenience and GPS compatibility for precision accuracy
We are proud to offer a computerized GoTo version of Celestron’s sturdy CG-5
mount. Couple this solid mount with the included computerized control system to utilize many of
the same functions and features — like the NexStarcomputer control system and an Autoguider port
for long exposure deep sky astrophotography — as Celestron’s most advanced GoTo telescopes.
GoTo models are also upgradeable to GPS with the optional CN16 GPS Accessory (#93966)
allowing your telescope to pinpoint your position on the earth, the date and
