Vixen - Cassegrain Reflector Telescopes
VC200L 200mm Catadioptrical Reflector Telescopes
The VC 200L is an 8” f/9.0 highly corrected, highly specialized telescope for astro imaging. With its
elaborate aspherical optical design it achieves an excellent image correction throughout the large
illuminated field. (42mm diameter fully illuminated)
The VC200L is designed around Astro Imaging. Even at the edge of the 35mm film format (larger CCD chips)
stars are sharp ( smaller than 15 micrometers This is smaller than the resolution of fine quality CCD
cameras, which means that the telescope does not limit the image quality.
With the f/6.4 reducer you get much shorter exposure times. The reducer is a highly recommended optional
accessory.
The basic configuration already contains a piggy-back camera holder. You can then take photos both through
the telescope and using a telephoto lens parallel to the main instrument or you can use the VC200L for
guiding while the camera sits on top.
The Vixen VMC110L, a 110 mm (4.33 inch) aperture modified Cassegrain f/9.4
optical tube assembly . The VMC110L is intriguing in its own right with
interesting features including curved vane Secondary Mirror Spider to
reduce diffraction effects, and a correcting meniscus lens just ahead of
the Secondary Mirror like its larger cousins the VMC200L and VMC260L
incorporate.
The VMC200L is a unique catadioptric optical system. It incorporates a primary mirror and a meniscus corrector
just before a secondary mirror. By doing so, light is corrected twice on the optical path.
The end result is that spherical aberration and field curvature are corrected to a high degree of optical
performance. The VMC200L’s primary mirror is f/2.5; the compound optical system is f/9.75. This makes the
system much more compact and portable than its competition.
Like the popular Schmidt-Cassegrain, the Vixen VMC is a true all purpose telescope. Despite its long focal
length the tube is only about 50cm (20”) long. As a result the instrument is very portable.
Another strong point of this telescope is its capability for high grade astro imaging. The meniscus
correcting lens offers a large corrected field. With the optional reducer you get shorter exposure times.
The Vixen VMC95L, is a 95 mm (3.7 inch) aperture modified Cassegrain f/11
optical tube assembly.
The VMC95L is intriguing in its own right with interesting features
including a curved vane Secondary Mirror Spider to reduce diffraction
effects. Like its larger cousins the VMC110L, VMC200L and VMC260L, this
scope features a meniscus lens just ahead of the Secondary Mirror.
