Orion has been retailing telescopes for a long time now, since 1975. The company was founded by Tim Gieseler. It is now owned by Imaginova, a company founded by Lou Dobbs. Yes, that Lou Dobbs. In an event, the Orion telescope company used to just sell telescopes made by Orion. Under Imaginova, however, they now retail other non-Orion brands.

While the Orion telescope is still a popular item, the Imaginova takeover meant that things were more open to other brands. Dobbs and Co. now move units like eyepieces and other sorts of scopes from manufacturers all over the world, offering a wealth of products for consumers that may not just want to support the Orion name.
